Pearl and Lotus

Most jewellery made from precious metals and other treasures of Mother Earth were considered auspicious among indigenous people.
Rooted in this view, I chose an almond-shaped silver frame as an oval portal with a pearl hanging in it. Based on the symbolism of the jewel in combination with the lotus from the Vajrayāna Buddhist tradition, the silver frame represents the lotus and the feminine principle, while the pearl embodies the jewel and the masculine principle. As one vibrates freely in the other, balance and harmony are symbolised, in which both principles resonate together, analogous to the union of the sexes.
In the service of peaceful activities the pacifying qualities of pearl and silver as white substances are applied.
